Nantes, France May 9: Our Mens’s eight won the third place in the race at 1000m on the international regatta in Nantes, on the competition of 17 university crews from Germany, France, Spain and Poland.
Rowers “Belgrade University” are entered into the finals as the first-ranked in the qualifying group with a time of 2 minutes and 53 seconds. In the final, first place took crew “The University of Karlsruhe” from Germany and the second place the crew from the French university of Nantes.
Marko Ilić, a member of Belgrade’s crew and a student of Faculty of Economics, said that the race was uncertain until the very end and that this success is a result of hard teamwork. “All winter we have been preparing for this race. We knew that the other teams will be in top shape because they will soon have a state university championship. I somehow managed to balance my responsibilities with university and training. We are delighted about this success, but now we need to continue with further training and regular duties at the University“, said Marko. Ivan Radosavljević, student of Faculty of Organisational Sciences, said that this was an unforgettable experience for him. “Two years ago I first sat in a boat and take a oar in hand, and today I’m happy because I’m part of the team that won a lot of experienced crew who train in far better conditions than us“. The guys financed themselves a trip to France and are grateful to Company “Nordeus” for donated equipment.
